Liara recently came to Canada, from Brazil, without speaking a word of English. During our shoot in a graffitied-up back lane, the weather was windy and sleeting, the light soft and bright. Here, she is smiling and holding up her hand — to touch her hair I recall — and it gives the photo a wholly triangular shape. Her hair has the tightest curls with wonderful flairs, and I love the texture in her clothes. She is looking away from the camera, like she is just going about her day. The whole look is very natural.
